Kim Soo Hyun’s Agency GOLDMEDALIST Faces Stock Manipulation Scandal Amid Dating Controversy |

South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun is facing a whirlwind of scandals, and his agency, GOLDMEDALIST, is now caught up in stock manipulation charges. These charges, filed by the Garosero Research Institute, concern Siwon School, an online school listed on KOSDAQ (Korean Securities Dealers Automated Quotation).
The accusations surround a private investment company that holds more than half of Siwon School’s stock. The company is funded by two different entities, one of which is allegedly GOLDMEDALIST. The Garosero Research Institute claims that GOLDMEDALIST might have been complicit in rigging the price of Siwon School’s shares, which could have profited from the changes.
When contacted for response, GOLDMEDALIST categorically refuted any role in the suspected manipulation of the stock. The agency said, “We are not involved in any of the trading activities related to this stock.”
The Financial Intelligence Unit of the Financial Services Commission launched the probe after it detected a sharp rise in Siwon School’s share price, which rose seven times in nine months. Suspecting market manipulation, the FIU reported to police authorities. The Korea Exchange (KRX) also raised an alarm after detecting suspicious trading.
These accusations come following another controversy for Kim Soo Hyun himself, who had been accused of going out with late actress Kim Sae Ron while she was underage. Kim Soo Hyun recently confirmed or denied these allegations during a press conference when he said, “I’ll talk about the most serious one—I did not date the late actress when she was a minor. We met five years ago for a year or so before Queen of Tears went on the air.”
Kim Soo Hyun also explained his previous denial of dating Kim Sae Ron, citing the potential effect on the cast and crew of ‘Queen of Tears.’ “As the main actor of Queen of Tears, I couldn’t confirm the relationship publicly because of its potential impact on the cast and crew,” he explained. He also denied allegations that his agency pushed Kim Sae Ron over her debts, stating, “Other than the fact that we were both actors, we were just a regular couple who drifted apart.”
The scandals involving both Kim Soo Hyun and his agency have been subject to close public scrutiny. Whether the FIU investigation of the stock manipulation claims will yield results and how the public will view Kim Soo Hyun amid the dating scandal allegations remain to be seen.
