Who Has Gisele Bundchen Dated? Look Back at the Supermodel’s Relationships

As one of the world’s most famous supermodels, Gisele Bündchen has quite the A-list dating history.

The Brazilian model first rose to fame in the late ‘90s, making her runway debut for Alexander McQueen in 1998 and becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2000. During the early years of her career, Bündchen had several high-profile relationships, including a five-year romance with Leonardo DiCaprio. However, her marriage to NFL legend Tom Brady is her most well-known relationship.

Bündchen and the football player began dating in 2007 and married on Feb. 26, 2009. They went on to welcome two children together: son Benjamin and daughter Vivian. Brady also shares son Jack with his ex-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan.

The pair were married for over a decade, but rumors of a split began circulating in late 2022 after Brady’s un-retirement from football, and they ultimately divorced that October. A few months later, Bündchen opened up about the breakup during her April 2023 cover story for Vanity Fair.

“Sometimes you grow together; sometimes you grow apart,” she told the magazine. “When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together. As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make. That doesn’t mean you don’t love the person.”

In June 2023, Bündchen began dating Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, and in February 2025, the couple welcomed their first child together.

Scott Barnhill

Bündchen dated (and worked alongside) male model Scott Barnhill in the ’90s. The relationship was short-lived, but the two famously posed together in the April 1999 edition of American Vogue, shot by Arthur Elgort.

It’s unclear why they broke up, but they seemingly ended things on good terms. “We recently split but you know life goes on,” Barnhill told E! News at the time. “I’m definitely working through it, I’m moving on.”

Years later, when Bündchen and Brady divorced, Barnhill told the New York Daily News about his ex: “She’s always known what she wanted … I wish the best for her.”

Leonardo DiCaprio

From 2000 to 2005, Bündchen was in an on-again, off-again relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio, which garnered significant media attention.

During their time together, the famous pair attended several Los Angeles Lakers games and even walked the red carpet at the 77th Academy Awards together, where DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor for The Aviator.

After five years together, Bündchen and DiCaprio amicably split. In a 2009 interview with Vanity Fair, the model called the Titanic star a “wonderful person,” but noted that they weren’t meant to be together.

She added: “We know what we had; we were very young, and we grew together in a lot of ways. We were just not meant to be boyfriend and girlfriend, but I respect him enormously, and I wish him nothing but the best.”

Kelly Slater

After her breakup with DiCaprio, Bündchen was romantically linked to professional surfer Kelly Slater. During the course of their relationship, they were frequently photographed spending time together at the beach.

The model also attended the 2005 ASP Boost Mobile Pro surf competition in San Clemente, Calif., to support Slater, who went on to win the event.

Tom Brady

Bündchen and Brady met in December 2006 on a blind date set up by mutual friends. During her 2009 interview with Vanity Fair, the model described their first meeting as love at first sight.

“The moment I saw him, he smiled and I was like, ‘That is the most beautiful, charismatic smile I’ve ever seen!’ ” she recalled. “We sat and talked for three hours. I had to go home for Christmas, but I didn’t want to leave.”

They officially began dating in early 2007, but their relationship hit a bump just a few months in when Brady’s ex-girlfriend revealed that she was pregnant with his first child. Although Bündchen considered walking away from the new relationship, she ultimately stuck by Brady’s side.

“It wasn’t the ideal situation for anyone — there’s no manual to prepare you for that,” she told PEOPLE in 2018, adding of Moynahan and her son: “But I’m so grateful for Bridget. I know this was hard, but I couldn’t imagine my life without Jack. I call him my bonus child.”

After getting engaged in January 2009, Bündchen and Brady tied the knot on Feb. 26, 2009. They went on to welcome their son, Benjamin Rein, on Dec. 8, 2009, followed by their daughter, Vivian Lake, on Dec. 5, 2012.

For the next 10 years, Bündchen and Brady remained one of Hollywood’s top power couples. However, rumors of marital issues began surfacing in late 2022, shortly after Brady un-retired from football and returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 23rd season in the NFL.

On Oct. 28, 2022, the couple officially announced their divorce with joint Instagram statements. “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage,”  Brady wrote in his post. “We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.”

For her part, Bündchen shared: “With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve.”

The model later addressed the rumors that Brady’s decision to return to football was at the root of their split. “People really made it about that,” she told Vanity Fair. “What’s been said is one piece of a much bigger puzzle … It’s not so black and white.”

Joaquim Valente

In February 2024, PEOPLE confirmed that Bündchen was dating Miami-based Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente.

“They’re taking it slow,” a source close to the model said, noting that she began quietly seeing Valente in June 2023. “She’s very private about this and wanted to keep it quiet while they got to know each other.”

Valente had been teaching Bündchen and her son Jiu-Jitsu since December 2021, but their relationship remained platonic for several years.

“They started out as friends,” a second source told PEOPLE, adding of Bündchen’s split from Brady: “He was a huge comfort for Gisele while she went through her divorce. Their friendship turned romantic after the divorce.”

That October, news broke that the couple were expecting their first child together, Bündchen’s third. “Gisele and Joaquim are happy for this new chapter in their life and they’re looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family,” a source told PEOPLE at the time.

PEOPLE confirmed that Bündchen and Valente had welcomed their child in February 2025. The model has yet to share the baby’s name or sex but a source later told PEOPLE that the couple’s new baby is a boy with the middle name River.
