Justin Bieber and Asher Roth reportedly used to be close while they were young.
In a new interview with Daily Star, Asher Roth, known widely for his song I Love College, reminisced about the time when he was pals with the Sorry hitmaker and disclosed what made Selena Gomez’s former boyfriend famous.
After sharing his two cents on the challenges faced by young artists, Asher Roth discussed the connection he had with Hailey Bieber’s husband during their early career.
“It’s sad because Justin was in Atlanta with us early on, and I don’t really have contact with him anymore but I wish I did,” Roth revealed.
In addition to this, the musician addressed some of their early interactions and talked about his steady career trajectory along with Justin’s then-manager, Scooter Braun.
“At the time Scooter was just getting started as a music manager, so he moved Justin down to where he was in Atlanta, where I was too,” he revealed.
Asher also shared, “I was old enough to bring some of my friends with me as a buffer and familiarity, but Justin left everything that he was doing in Canada, and came down with his Mom.”
In conclusion, he claimed that Justin’s dramatic personal life helped him more in becoming a global pop superstar rather than his musical gift.
“For me, piercing through as the I Love College guy, it’s been impossible for me to reintroduce myself as it’s always been about the branding,” he continued and noted about the father of one, “For Bieber, not to tell his story, but it’s like that with a lot of stars, they become more popular than their music.”
“And so the public becomes extremely interested in who they are dating and their private life,” he concluded.
