- A Mumsnet user shared that her gut instinct is to tell the man she’s dating that he’s moving too quickly for her liking
- The woman revealed that the man has already said he “loves” her after going on five dates in five in weeks
- “Go with your gut,” another Mumsnet user advised. “If he’s lovebombing you or getting too invested too quickly and it’s given you the ick then it’s not going to get any better”
A woman, who is back in the dating scene after a divorce, is concerned about her new suitor after he confessed he “loves” her after five dates.
She explained on the community forum Mumsnet that she found this man on a dating app, on which they communicated for a week before meeting up.
“He seems really lovely, but I now feel he wants to move too quick after only knowing each other for five weeks,” she wrote, adding that they’ve “been intimate” during this time span of just over a month.
“I was clear I wanted to go slow as it has only been a year since my marriage ended,” she continued. “He agreed but has since said he loves me twice (way too soon for me), has also said I’m out of his league and waiting this out until I realize (seems odd).”

She then gave another example of something that “really” put her off.
“He acted very disappointed after a date when I said I was going home and not spending another night. My gut feeling is he is too invested too quick, thoughts?” she pondered, before saying she wants to tell him her concerns. “I feel like he will be gutted, but it just feels wrong.”
“Are these things red flags? Kind advice please,” she asked the forum.

Many Mumsnet users told her to trust her instincts, with one person writing, “Go with your gut. If he’s lovebombing you or getting too invested too quickly and it’s given you the ick then it’s not going to get any better.”
Another reader agreed, commenting, “Always listen to your gut. Just because your conscious brain doesn’t see the red flags doesn’t mean your instinctual subconscious can’t, and that instinct is telling you to run.”
A third person quipped, “Run far and fast!”
