Jonathan Davino is from Chicago, where he once owned two Chicago restaurants, Mista Pizza and Pompei Xpress, which have both closed. People and TMZ reported that Davino’s family owns device technology and packaging company 14th Round and Final Bell.

Davino and Sweeney were first linked in 2018 after they were spotted at an Emmys party at the Nomad hotel in Los Angeles. In October of that year, they were photographed at an InStyle and Kate Spade dinner party. In November 2020, they were photographed kissing in Hawaii, where Sweeney was filming her role on The White Lotus, per Just Jared.

Rumors circulated in 2023 that Sweeney might be in a relationship with Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell, but the pair later revealed they purposely played up their chemistry to market the popular rom-com. A source told TMZ in April 2023 that Sweeney and Davino were definitely still together, and the perceived flirting was just part of the movie promotion. The movie was a huge success and Sweeney’s star rose to new heights.

In February 2025, TMZ reported Sweeney and Davino had postponed their wedding due to career issues. Then on March 31, People reported that the former couple was officially broken up. They apparently split as early as January 2025, according to TMZ. A source told People that Sweeney realized she wasn’t ready to get married. The insider explained that Sweeney “didn’t feel right” about her relationship.

“She’s not ready to settle down,” the source said. “They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn’t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.”

Glen Powell

Sweeney and Glen Powell have never dated, but rumors of an affair followed them throughout the press tour for Anyone But You. Sweeney was engaged to Jonathan Davino while Powell was dating model Gigi Paris as the movie was shooting. The two stars often joked abut the rumors and Powell even credited Sweeney for leaning into them to increase interest in the film.

“I don’t have the mental capacity to pull anything like this off, but she’s very smart,” Powell said in a 2023 interview with Business Insider. “And look, Sydney and I do have authentic chemistry.”

He added, “It was a lot easier for Sydney to lean into something like that because she’s in a very committed and wonderful relationship and she’s very happy.”

In August 2023, Sweeney spoke to Variety about the rumors as well, saying the flirtation was purposeful.

“It’s a rom-com,” she said with a laugh. “That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. We’re excited for the press tour, and I literally just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny.’”

She added that they enjoyed fueling the gossip: “They want it. It’s fun to give it to ’em.”

She touched on them again in a December 2023 Glamour UK interview. She said of the affair speculation, “It was really hard on Glen, which made me sad…because [otherwise] it was such a beautiful experience for the both of us. I care for him so much.”

She added, “Also, I’ve never really shared that much [about my relationship with Davino], so the press loves to create drama in stories.”

On March 2, 2024, Sweeney hosted Saturday Night Live and used her opening monologue to joke about the situation.

“I’d say the craziest rumor I’ve seen is that while I was filming Anyone But You, I was having an affair with my co-star Glen Powell,” Sweeney started. “That’s obviously not true. Me and my fiancé produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot. And I just want to let everyone know that he’s the man of my dreams, and we’re still together and stronger than ever. He even came here tonight to support me. Can we cut to him?”

The camera then panned to Powell seated in the audience.
