The dating scenario has gotten a technological update, thanks to the arrival of swipe-based dating apps like Bumble and Tinder. They have become staples in the lives of many, especially among the younger generation. While the purpose of dating apps is to simply perform digital matchmaking with many actually depending on them for serious connections, there are also people who merely resort to dating apps for a little exploration and spend free time. So was the case with a man who switched to the dating app during his free 10 minutes at the airport, only to find more than 100 matches.
The X user named Ankit shared a screenshot of the dating app and his matches on the social media platform, revealing as many as 111 women who matched with him. The screenshot from either Tinder or Bumble featured the ‘Chats’ section with ‘Your matches.’ While Ankit used emojis to keep the women’s identity covered, social media users couldn’t help but notice the matches. “10 minutes of bored swiping at Bangalore airport is all you need,” he wrote.
A user took to the comment section and wrote, “Performance marketing,” while another added, “It could be a good case study, I tell you.”
“111 matches! Is that even possible?” another comment read. One of the users guessed, “I’d like to see if that’s all women. Pretty easy to ramp up elo numbers by turning preferences to everyone and swiping them to match and show this number. Not attacking you, brother.”
A user joked, “99.99% would be scammers with fake accounts. Looks like scammers know his bank balance,” while another asked, “Is that even interesting like how do you decide who to swipe and who to not?”
Following the reactions, Ankit, in another post, explained how gaining 100 matches in an hour could be a reasonable figure. “Don’t swipe. Buy premium. Swipe only on people who swipe on you. In general, getting clicked where everyone is getting clicked is a bad idea. Cultural context and sustainable sources of attention are more suitable. If you’re in Bangalore, pictures from Europe work. If you’re in Europe, pictures from Bangalore work. Your bio comes last. But your profession and college come first. Be creative there,” some of his tricks read.
Ankit even hosted a group call for all Bumble-related questions after his post sparked curiosity on the internet.
